I’m not allowed to kiss you. See, I think about kissing you so often that it’s become one of those rules I have set for myself, like not wearing heels after three glasses of dark red wine. I think about kissing you when the sun is just setting over the mountains and I think about kissing you when the snow is falling and your lips are pale pink from the cold. Sometimes I think about kissing you on worn couches with knitted blankets and cups of coffee steaming next to us and sometimes I think your hands would intertwine with mine. Kissing you in fields full of wild flowers on wool blankets beneath our shaking legs and spring stars above our nervous lips has crossed my mind. Linking my hand in yours in crowded hallways and busy streets and pecking your cheek is another thought I’ve had. Except I’m not allowed to kiss you; because your mind is one I can’t figure out and your hands are never close enough for mine to hold and your smile makes me falter and forget where I am and who I am and what I think and that the snow is falling and all I want is to kiss you but I’m not allowed to kiss you (but you’re allowed to kiss me.)

I live on the opposite side of the country *ugly cry*

Aw I’m sorry :( i never thought in a million years i’d get to see it but we happened to be touring Vassar during its run so I convinced my parents to make a stop in the city! I’m incredibly lucky

I want your life. Simple as that. SO happy for you!

Aw thank you! It was a pretty great night.

I’m RIDICULOUSLY jealous beyond belief.

Haha thanks! You should definitely go see it if you get a chance!.

Marry Me a Little

so last night I saw the Keen Company’s production of Marry Me a Little Off-Broadway at the Clurman Theater. In a nutshell it was probably my favorite professional theatrical theatre-going experience so far. Everything about it was (basically) perfect, and the fact that it’s one of my favorite shows and I actually got to see it performed was pretty phenominal.

anyway time to EXTRAPOLATE

first of all the theater is tiny so that was gr9 because we were in the 5th row but it totally didn’t matter because there were only 6~~

UMMMMMM

the set was just the apartment (obviously) but it was really well designed and pretty much exactly what was needed

I thought it was BRILLIANT how they established the two different apartments in one because Jason came in with his bags or whatever and does whatever for like a minute and then right as Lauren runs up he slammed it shut and then she unlocks it and runs in and there was a different number on the door. I didn’t notice it at first but the whole little sequence got a laugh from the audience. I think most of the audience realized what was going on after they both go in and come out of the bathroom. There were a lot of “oooohhhss.”

what ELSE

I thought the revisioning or whatever they’re calling it was pretty well done, not that i’ve seen the original production. THe only thing/songs I didn’t like were Bring on the Girls, where Jason is on a porn site and like caressing his computer and it was WEIRD, and then Rainbows from the Into the Woods movie. It’s a great song but i thought it just didn’t fit the tone of the rest of the show. The reshuffling of some of the songs was good.

Lauren MOLINA HOLY SHIT. I had just kind of assumed she was amazing from videos and stuff but DAMN she is so good. Her voice is bananas. BANANAS. The ooonnnllly thing i could say was that she really overpowered Jason in their duets that she sang legit as opposed to belting. But besides that she was perfect and her comedic timing was FLAWLESS for a show where there is zero dialogue.

oh my god he was just so GOOD. like just

perFECt. His Ah, but Underneath was amazing. and his Happily Ever After was also amazing. And then we talked for like half an hour after the show and i just give UP he was so nice and he guessed i was a performer and i literally just wanted to cry because he was so KIND i was like whAT THE HECK WHY CAN’T I BE NICE AND TALENTED AND PERFECT.

I think my favorite part of the whole show was A Moment with You, which was already my favorite song from the show but the staging was just PERFECT. I loved that it was in the middle of the dream sequence and how they transition from dancing to the piano to dancing to the record and then how they get ripped out of it by the record skipping. UGH

perfect

i want to be in a production of this show mroe than ANYTHING.

it’s going to happen someday.
